Track entitlement & effective-price changes
See when a competitor's plan entitlements or effective price change so your positioning stays current.
What you get
- A chronological, cited timeline of every entitlement a competitor moves.
- A monthly-equivalent effective price for every offering, so an annual plan and a monthly plan compare like for like.
- An
entitlement_changealert the moment a feature moves tiers — never buried in a raw price delta.
What an entitlement change is
An entitlement is a feature or a limit tied to a plan tier — included seats, SSO, storage, support level. Each check compares the entitlements a competitor's pricing, docs, changelog, and comparison pages currently show against what the last check observed. A key that changed tier or value is a change; a key that's new is an addition; a key that's gone is a removal. Every change carries the page it was cited from and the date it was detected — nothing is reported without a citation.
Where you see it
- On the Alerts page, an
entitlement_changealert readskey: from → to, with a link to the cited page. - On a competitor vendor's detail page under Competitors, the full chronological timeline lives on that vendor's page — every change, its citation, and when it was detected. A vendor with no changes shows an explicit empty state rather than an empty-looking page.
- In the Action Center, an
entitlement_reviewrecommendation surfaces when a repackaging is worth reviewing against your own plan.
Reading the effective price
Plans aren't priced the same way, so a raw list price can mislead. Effective price normalizes:
- Monthly equivalent — an annual price divided by 12, a monthly price as-is.
- Per-value-metric — price divided by the included quantity, when a plan declares one (per seat, for example).
- Promo flag — a promotional or outlier price is labelled as such, never quietly folded into the baseline.
The comparison matrix under Competitors shows the monthly-equivalent effective price for each offering/competitor pair, with the billing term and any promo flag available on the cell. A cell with no computable effective price shows the observed price instead and says why.
How to read it
A quiet timeline on a competitor's detail page is a normal outcome — it means that competitor hasn't repackaged since your last check, not that the check failed.
Go further
- Set positioning guardrails — the rules every effective-price comparison is checked against.
- See what needs attention — where an
entitlement_reviewrecommendation lands. - Get alerts when prices move — the
entitlement_changealert in the wider alerts feed. - Set up competitors to watch — add the vendors whose entitlements you want tracked.
